Poetry – ‘Brooklyn Bridge’ (1925) by Mayakovsky

Poem by Vladimir Mayakovsky inspired by the Brooklyn Bridge, written in 1925. Read by Barry York. “Coolidge” refers to Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President of the USA from 1923 to 1929. The poem reflects its time – some specific references would not be appropriate today. However, the celebration of modern industrial achievement cannot be restated enough. More bridges – less borders!
